A recent University of Virginia Health System study concludes that acupuncture is effective for treating infertility related to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Acupuncture was also shown to restore regular periods for women with amenorrhea. In another recent study reported in the ‘American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology’, acupuncture was proven to relieve menstrual pain. The study concludes that “acupuncture should be considered as a viable option in the management of these patients.” In yet another study reported in the journal ‘Cephalalgia’, German researchers concluded that acupuncture is effective for the treatment of headaches. This conclusion parallels that of a study conducted recently by Italian researchers that was published in the March 2008 issue of the journal ‘Headache’ which concluded that acupuncture is an effective treatment for migraines.
