San Francisco acupuncture college, The American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM), received accreditation by the ACAOM (Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) for its doctoral program in acupuncture and oriental medicine. The DAOM (Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) program supplements ACTCM’s existing offering, the Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM). Other schools with ACAOM accreditation for the doctoral program are Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington; the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon; and the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California. Several other acupuncture and Chinese medicine schools are candidates to receive the ACAOM doctoral program accreditation: Five Branches University in San Jose, California; South Baylo University in Anaheim, California; University of East West Medicine in Sunnyvale, California; and Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles, California.
The ACAOM is officially recognized by the US Department of Education. ACAOM accreditation of the ACTCM doctoral program helps students become eligible for federal financial aid. Currently, ACAOM includes over 60 schools and colleges that are either accredited or have candidacy status for the master or doctoral programs in traditional oriental medicine.
